Crown Estate welcomes Marine & Coastal Strategy Report Published:  13 March, 2007

THE Crown Estate has today welcomed the report published by the Advisory Group on Marine & Coastal Strategy (AGMACS) on Monday.

AGMACS was set up by Environment and Rural Development Minister Ross Finnie in September 2005 to look at the future of Scotland’s coastal strategy. Included in the report was the recommendation for a new system of Marine Spatial Planning in Scotland.

Speaking following the publication of the report, Ian Pritchard, Head of the Scottish Marine Estate for The Crown Estate said:

“We welcome the recommendations made in the AGMACS report published today, including the call for a new system of Marine Spatial Planning for Scotland.

“It represents a more integrated approach to regulating, managing and protecting the Scottish marine environment so that all the implications relating to its current and future uses are better understood and coordinated.

“We look forward to working with the Scottish Executive in the coming months through continuing to share our knowledge and expertise in this area.”
