Mowi Chairman to step down

Ole-Eirik Lerøy, Mowi’s long-serving Chairman, has announced he is stepping down from the board of the salmon farming giant.

He has been an integral part of the business for more than 15 years. It was also announced yesterday that his successor will be shipping executive Ørjan Svanevik.

Høstlund named as CEO of Nordic Aquafarms

Charles Høstlund, the former head of Norway Royal Salmon (NRS), has been appointed as CEO of Nordic Aquafarms, the land-based fish farmer.

He had been chairman of Nordic Aquafarms and his elevation follows the departure of the previous CEO, Bernt Olav Røttingsnes, who had earlier indicated he wanted to step down after six years in the post.

Aquaculture technology business Aquabyte has announced a shuffle of positions at the top of the company. Steve Tucker, currently President & COO, will become Aquabyte’s new CEO while founder Bryton Shang will transition from CEO to become Executive Chairman.

Ex-Mowi chief joins Smir Group

Alf-Helge Aarskog, a former CEO of global salmon giant Mowi, has joined the board of Smir Group. Smir specialises in sea lice treatment, waterborne feeding and cage systems. Aarskog has extensive experience in the seafood industry. He was CEO at Lerøy Seafood Group, another major Norwegian salmon producer, before taking charge at  Mowi for around a decade.

Son of SalMar founder comes in from cold

Gustav Magnar Witzøe, son of the founder of the salmon giant SalMar, has joined the board of family-owned group Kvarv.
It had previously been reported that he wanted to remain outside active business and had considered moving to Switzerland at one point last year.
