YOUNG’S  Seafood has teamed up with  and award winning Cambridge’s chip shop owners  the Petrou Brothers to launch the UK’s first pop up ‘Young’s Fish & Chip Shop’ next week.

The Grimsby based company, best known for its Young’s brand fish available in supermarkets, is also a leading supplier of fish and seafood to the foodservice sector and for retailer own-label products. The pop up ‘Young’s Fish & Chip Shop’, on Burleigh street in Cambridge brings together Young’s responsibly sourced fish and the Petrou brothers frying expertise. Information on seafood species will be available for children in store and local kids will be able to attend ‘School of Fish’ educational demonstrations about fish with the Petrou brothers, in the spring. Simon Clarke, Business Unit Director at Young’s Seafood Limited, said: “Launching a pop-up Young’s Fish and Chip Shop is an exciting new way for us to serve up the responsibly sourced fish we supply. “ Partnering with master fryers the Petrou brothers made perfect sense as they share our commitment to providing high quality fish and seafood. From Hake sourced from a Marine Stewardship Certified fishery to popcorn scampi for kids and from Pollock subs to old favourites, the pop-up shop will provide lots of different species as part of our Fish for Life drive to encourage people to try a wider variety of fish. “We hope that people who come into the pop-up shop partnership will feel like they have entered the true home of fish, kids will join in with our School of Fish and everyone will be inspired to try seafood in a new way.” The Petrou brothers said: “Working with Young’s has finally given us access to the very best quality and species of sustainable fish in the ocean. On a local level, we are delighted to be bringing this exciting partnership to Burleigh Street. The nations favourite dish is now going to be in the heart of Cambridge and we can’t wait to see you all.”.The ‘Young’s Fish & Chip Shop’ fish is sourced in line with Young’s Seafood Limited’s Fish for Life programme and 10 Principles for Responsible Sourcing, along with fish from fisheries that have been certified by the Marine Stewardship Council. Born into the fish and chip industry, after their father opening his first chippy in 1968, brothers Mark and Peter Petrou have continued their Father’s good work serving fish and chips to the good people of Chatteris and Cambridge for more than 30 years. They have since won several National industry awards including being crowned top UK ‘ Fish and Chip Champs’ in 2007. Mark Petrou is one of the master fryers teaching at the KFE school of frying excellence and opens shops for clients around the globe. Mark was also recognised at the 2013 fish and chip awards with the prestigious outstanding achievement award.
