South Wales next on NFFO tour Published:  29 January, 2008

THE National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations,(NFFO),is visiting fishing ports in South Wales on February 7 and 8, to hear about the problems faced by local fishermen.

Alan McCulla, Chief Executive of the Anglo Northern Irish Fish Producers’ Organisation will be representing the NFFO and has underlined that he wants to help fishermen make their voices heard and increase their influence over fisheries management.

This will be the NFFO’s third port-of-call on a tour of ports in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, following Mr McCulla’s visits to the North East and South East of England in January.

He said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to those who took the time to meet me. I’m looking forward to coming back to these ports for a second meeting – between May and July – and would urge anyone who wasn’t able to meet me, to come along next time. I have learnt a lot about the particular problems faced by fishermen in many different ports, as well as how these are being fought at a local level. This vital information will help the NFFO to support fishermen as they strive to forge a real future for their industry.”

On Thursday February 7, the meeting will be at 6pm at Milford Haven’s Lord Nelson Hotel and next day also 6pm, at Swansea’s Tawe Boating Club, East Burrows Road. is published by Special Publications. Special Publications also publish FISHupdate magazine, Fish Farmer, the Fish Industry Yearbook, the Scottish Seafood Processors Federation Diary, the Fish Farmer Handbook and a range of wallplanners.
