Shetland to get new whitefish boat Published:  21 April, 2005

SHETLAND’S whitefish industry is to get a new whitefish boat.

Mark Anderson & Partners hope that Whitby shipyard Parkol Marine will start work on their new 18.7 metre twin rigger as early as July this year.

Shetland Development Trust has agreed to invest £575,000 enabling the partnership to go ahead with their order. Mr Anderson was not prepared to reveal the overall cost of the vessel, it was reported.

The Skeld fishing business had sold its former vessel Copious in August last year and had hoped to replace her with another second hand vessel.

However that plan fell through and the fishermen worked for a time on other boats while developing their proposal for a new vessel. is published by Special Publications.
