Shetland Salmon Sector Honoured Fish Farming Today Published:  07 August, 2002

THE Shetland Salmon Farmers’ Association has been presented with a souvenir plate following its involvement with the fifth ‘Skills for Chefs’ Conference held at the University of Sheffield.

The Association sponsored two sessions – including the conference dinner – on the second day of an event known as the largest of its kind in the UK.

The plate features details of the conference dinner, created by a medley of master chefs including Michelin starred chef Ian McAndrew, who prepared seared Shetland salmon with herb coleslaw.

Over 300 delegates, most of whom are highly respected chefs, had the opportunity to ‘taste the difference’ of Shetland salmon.

Director of Skills for Chefs David McKown said: “The event was an excellent means of developing awareness for Shetland salmon, and being part of the conference helped put the product under the spotlight.”
