Mull and Iona Pipe Band has secured a sponsorship deal worth £2,000 from the Scottish Sea Farms Heart of the Community Trust.

This cash boost will help with the band’s running costs as they represent Mull and Iona in competitions and performances across the UK, including the recent World Pipe Band Championships held last Sunday in Glasgow.

Joanne MacDougall, Secretary of the pipe band, said: “This cash support from Scottish Sea Farms is really appreciated as without it the band would be unable to take part in a lot of competitions.  We travelled to Glasgow this month to compete in the World Pipe Band Championships and this funding helped to make this trip possible.”

Geoff Kidd, Loch Spelve Site Manager, Scottish Sea Farms, said: “This is what the Heart of the Community Trust is all about.  The Mull and Iona Pipe Band gives the whole area something to be proud of and we are delighted to be able to help them go on to achieve further success.”

The ‘Heart of the Community’ Trust supports projects and charities that will deliver lasting change to local communities and allow them to grow and develop.  Awards are considered in the areas of health and health promotion, education and life-long learning, personal development and various community projects that bring benefit.

Application forms for the Heart of The Community can be found on the Scottish Sea Farms website – www.scottishseafarms.com – together with full details of the criteria required.
