Marine Harvest (Scotland) Ltd currently has vacancies for a Farm Manager, two Assistant Farm Managers within our Seawater Farms, a Hatchery Technician for our Inchmore Hatchery and an Assistant Quality Manager based in Fort William.

FARM MANAGER, ARDINTOULWe are currently looking to identify a suitably qualified, experienced and self-motivated Manager to manage our Ardintoul seawater site.

Ardintoul is currently stocked with 2007 year class S1 smolts, held in 12x70m circular pens moving to 100m circular pens in late spring. Feeding is carried out by a C-Cap feeding system, monitored centrally via dedicated cameras in each pen.

The successful candidate should have experience of two full production cycles in fish farming and possess previous supervisory experience. A good working knowledge of operating circular pens would be advantageous. Essential skills include the ability to manage and motivate personnel, first class planning and organisation abilities and a high degree of computer literacy.

These are challenging roles in a difficult environment and in return we offer a salary package, based on experience, together with a bonus package for results achieved against set targets.

ASSISTANT FARM MANAGER x 2,CAOL MOR, ISLE OF SKYE and DUICH LOCH SYSTEMWe are seeking two key individuals to assist the management and development of our farming operations at Caol Mhor and Duich Loch System. Caol Mhor is Marine Harvest (Scotland) Ltd’s largest production area on the Isle of Skye and is split between three areas at Maol Ban, Sconser and Cairidh.

The sites at Cairidh, Sconser and Duich are currently stocked with 2007 year class S1 smolts. Feeding is carried out by a C-Cap feeding systems monitored centrally via dedicated cameras in each pen (mobile cameras are in place at Duich).

The successful candidates will undertake duties as required and directed by the Farm Managers and will have several years’ practical experience in fish farming.

A good working knowledge of operating both steel and plastic pens would be advantageous. Also desirable is the ability to motivate others, excellent organisational skills, administrative competence and excellent computer skills. A full, clean driving licence is also essential.

Beyond the nature of the role, the post holder would be expected to undertake over-time as required in order to accommodate the business needs of the farm and, for the same reason, will be required to work weekends on a rotational basis. Assistance with accommodation may be available at Caol Mhor.

HATCHERY TECHNICIAN, INCHMOREAn interesting and varied role exists at our Inchmore Hatchery for a Hatchery Technician. This post is offered on a full-time, 40 hours per week basis.

This fresh water role is focused upon care of the eggs prior to hatching and also effective fish husbandry of the fry and smolts prior to their transportation to sea water farms. Applications would be particularly welcome from individuals who have some experience in fresh water operations but this is not essential as full training and support would be provided.

Beyond the nature of the role, the post holder would be expected to undertake over-time as required in order to accommodate the business needs of the Hatchery and, for the same reason, will be required to work 24 hour alarm cover on a rotational basis. Accommodation may be available.

ASSISTANT QUALITY MANAGERFORT WILLIAMWe are seeking an enthusiastic, self motivated individual to assist the Quality Manager with the smooth running of the department. The main responsibility of the post is to complete farm and factory audits in support of the Company Quality and Environmental standards, and to suggest and agree improvements and corrective actions where appropriate. They will carry out assessments and trials to improve product quality, and manage specific Marine Harvest tracking and tracing software. There will also be a need to collate data and to produce reports.

The ideal candidate will have aquaculture experience in both farming and factory areas. A Higher National Diploma or Degree in a related discipline would be an advantage. The candidate should have excellent computer skills with experience of Microsoft packages, and a full, clean driving licence is also essential.

The post will be based in Fort William. The post holder would be expected to undertake over-time as required and occasional nights away from home.
