7th NASF FAO Global White Fish Summit – Overview Published:  17 February, 2012

The first NASF FAO Global White Fish Summit on March 8th   will host a number of the world’s leading speakers and industry experts. The major issues to be addressed are summarised below:

Norway Seafood Council Chairman Rolf Domstein  will moderate the NASF FAO Global White Fish summit featuring eight well know industry stakeholders:

Ragnar Nystøl, CEO Kontali will address the overall Outlook for Atlantic white fish supply, demand and prices  and give their assessments of the years ahead.

The first half of the Summit will address the outlook for global supply and resources:

The NASF for the first time will have an overview of whitefish supplies and exports from southern Africa region –  Namibia and South Africa, given by  Tim Reddell,  Director Viking Fishing Company and Vice-Chair South African Deep Sea Trawler Association.

Olav Holst-Dyrnes ,  CEO for Aker Seafoods, in Norway will address his views on the North Atlantic White fish supply and outlook.North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF): NASF is the world’s largest seafood business conference and a leading meeting place for top industry executives. The 7th NASF is to be staged in Oslo March 6-8, 2012. Explore cutting edge innovation, research, sustainability, policy, business, trade and capital markets issues. Around 100 international top-level speakers and experts will address 10 NASF seminars over 3 days.

The second half of the Summit will address the outlook for global white fish market.

Erik Hempel, Norwegian FAO Consultant, will give his views on the  European white fish markets and imports. Then the Outlook for Asia supplies and China white fish processing will be addressed by Dr. Chen, CEO  and Alan Gey, Director of the Haikui company from China

The Impact of competing species in European markets – Pangasius, Tilapia, Alaska Pollock and other species is the themes which Jan Trollvik, Director, Norway Seafood Council, will present.

Finally a round table discussion and Q&A session will moderated by Summit Chair Rolf Domstein and Jan Trollvik, Norway Seafood Council.
