Icelandic salmon farmer Arctic Fish has announced that it is appointing a new Chief Operating Officer.

He is Egill Olafsson, who has been with the company for more than a decade and is currently operations manager for the offshore phase.
He takes up his post next month and takes over from John Gunnar Grindskar, who is entering a new role as project manager for production development.
Olafsson is among the company’s longest-serving employees, beginning his career at one of Arctic Fish’s seawater sites. Over the years, he has held several key management roles and has pursued relevant education alongside his work.
Mowi-owned Arctic Fish said in a Stock Exchange announcement at the weekend that with his deep operational knowledge, leadership experience, and strong industry background, Egill Olafsson was well positioned to guide Arctic Fish’s farming operations into the future.
“We are very pleased to announce Egill’s appointment,” said Daniel Jakobsson, CEO of Arctic Fish.
“He brings more than a decade of farming experience in the Westfjords and a good educational foundation. We are also proud to promote from within — strengthening local leadership rooted in the community.”
John Gunnar Grindskarwill continue in his current COO role until March 31 after which he will begin his new position. In this role, he will focus on strengthening local management in the field and continue aligning Arctic Fish’s operations with Mowi’s standards of excellence.
“We are very happy that John Gunnar has chosen to stay with the company in this new capacity,” said Jakobsson.
“With a clearer focus on operational improvement and knowledge sharing with our teams at sea, he will remain an important asset to Arctic Fish moving forward.”
