Håkon Vigner Lindal Olaisen, one of the owners of the northern Norway salmon farmer sold to Mowi three months ago, has been killed in a road accident in Poland.

The accident is thought to have happened yesterday. Details of exactly what happened, and whether anyone else involved have yet to emerge. He was aged 43.
The company said: “It is with sadness that we announce that part-owner of Nova Sea, Håkon Vigner Lindal Olaisen, has died in a car accident in Poland this morning. Several people in the company knew Håkon. Our thoughts go out to the family.”
Olaisen, along with his sisters Aino and Maria, was a co-owner in one of Norway’s most progressive privately owned salmon businesses.
Mowi, which has had a 30% stake in Nova Sea for the past 30 years, had agreed on January 30th to buy almost the entire business (95%) in a deal worth just over £500m.
Mowi CEO Ivan Vindheim described Nova Sea as a frontrunner in Norwegian aquaculture.
The deal has yet to receive competition authority approval but was expected to be completed towards the end of the year.
Nova Sea is a leading salmon farmer in production area 8 in Northern Norway and covers the entire value chain from broodstock and smolt production to harvesting and sales. The company expects to harvest 52,000 tonnes of salmon this year.
The company is valued at around £1.14bn.
