GC Rieber Fortuna takes majority stake in SHM Solutions
GC Rieber Fortuna has signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in SHM Solutions, marking its first investment in the aquaculture industry.
The investment will be made through GC Rieber Fortuna’s SCALEIT mandate and is intended to support SHM Solutions’ continued growth in cranes, deck equipment and technology systems for service vessels.
SHM Solutions supplies marine deck equipment and systems to customers along the Norwegian coast and internationally, including Chile, Tasmania, Scotland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. The company has seen rising demand in recent years and has built a strong position in equipment for aquaculture service vessels.
Chief executive Yngve Bøe Myklebust said SHM Solutions had been open to partnerships but wanted a majority owner that allows the company to retain independence towards customers and competitors.
GC Rieber Fortuna said SHM Solutions’ founders will remain active in the business. Investment director Fredrik Harloff said the company holds a strong position in deck equipment for aquaculture service vessels and offers patented products and an innovation-driven culture.
