With almost 80 years of existence, Fibras Industriales S.A (FISA) has become a leader in the production and commercialisation of nets for the salmon industry sector, manufacturing products with the highest quality standards and developing services tailored to the needs of its customers.

FISA, based in Lima, Peru, now presents one of its latest innovations in netting for aquaculture, which is the result of constant research from the company.

XtraCore+ is the name of this new technology, which promises to take a step forward for the marine industry. Xtracore+ is a product constructed of a first and second layer of braided polyethylene, with a core that is a third inner layer of polyester filaments, plus UHMWPE (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) from DSM, a light material, which is more resistant to bites/cuts than steel.

According to Franco Valdez, Exports Head at FISA , this allows Xtracore+ “to have a higher coefficient of friction, helping its durability against adverse climates, highly demanding tides and currents and, above all, to the onslaught of wildlife, such as sea lions, which constantly bite the nets, testing its resistance”.

He also adds that “the knots are adjusted by steam stretching (a process called steam fixation) in our depth stretching machine, which was designed by our engineers and where we can manufacture netting with twine up to a thickness of 8.5mm.”

Franco Valdez concludes: “Our experience in the design and manufacture of nets, as well as our years of experience working in the aquaculture industry, have positioned us as an excellent supplier of farming cages, aviary nets, and high quality and resistant nets for predators, always basing our production on the needs of each client.”

FISA will be attending the Seafood Expo/Processing Global at Barcelona from 25 April to 27 April 27 2023. Please feel free to visit us at stand number 3MM301.
