Compatibility of feeds with fish digestive and metabolic capacities is paramount for optimal growth performance and health. Suboptimal levels of dietary lipids, the inclusion of plant ingredients, or the seasonal variations in water temperature, negatively impact nutrient absorption and utilization. ADISSEO has developed digestive/metabolic enhancers based on natural emulsifying components to enhance not only digestive emulsification but also the absorption and metabolic use of lipidic and non-lipidic nutrients. In gilthead seabream challenged with low FM (10%FM) or high fat (20%) feeds, our solutions have proved to improve growth performance via optimisation of both the active and passive transport capacity of the gut epithelium. Supplementation is therefore a strategy to maximise fish growth and health under production conditions and current formulation practices.
