Tuna are powerful carnivores, and when on occasion they break into a salmon pen they can create major problems. They normally do not eat the salmon but their presence poses other problems: not only do they make gashing holes in the net, when a tuna is present in a cage, the fish are stressed and often will not eat, holding back their growth.
