Neil Manchester named as MD for Kames

Neil Manchester has been named as the next Managing Director at trout business Kames Fish Farming. He will succeed Stuart Cannon, who is set to take on the role of Chairman next February.

Manchester, who started his fish farming career at Kames, will join the senior management team as Managing Director Designate at the start of August 2021, and will take up his full position as Managing Director on 1 February 2022.

He brings more than 35 years’ experience in aquaculture, having started out at Kames in 1985, before moving to Landcatch in 1998 and then Hendrix Genetics in 2011. As Managing Director of Aquaculture at Hendrix Genetics he has been instrumental in developing them as a global leading player in the aquaculture breeding sector.

Stuart Cannon, who has been Managing Director of Kames since 1972, will stand down as Managing Director on 1 February 2022, and take on the role of Chairman.  The Hon. Ed Gully will remain on the board as a non-executive director, together with Andrew Cannon, Jim Gully, and Finance Director Allan MacIsaac.

The company said: “We are very pleased that Neil is re-joining our Kames family and we are confident that he has all the right credentials to continue our strategy, development and expansion of Kames.  This is a very exciting and positive step and we look forward to 50 more successful years for Kames.”
