
Ellie Johansen previously held a similar role with seafood initiative in BDO.
She grew up close to the salmon cages on the Trøndelag coast in a "fishing family" before becoming a marine biologist. She has previously been industry leader for the seafood initiative in BDO and general manager of the NCE Aquatech Cluster.
She said she viewed Seafood Enterprises as a forward-looking organisation that wanted to contribute to change for its member companies and the industry in general, adding: “That’s why I’m excited to start in this role and have the opportunity to make my mark. It’s an organisation that manages to initiate change processes and help shape important issues for this industry.
“We are in a very exciting time for the industry. The political treatment of the aquaculture report will be very important for all of us.
“We are experiencing increasingly unpredictable framework conditions for the seafood industry, and major changes are underway that are changing the ownership structure in a number of companies."
She said she wanted to help create even better dialogue between the authorities and the various parts of the seafood industry, along with highlighting the important issues and discussions that industry players were concerned about.
Seafood Companies CEO Robert H. Eriksson, said he was very pleased to have Ellie on the team, and is convinced that her expertise and background add weight and power to the administration in the company.
“With Ellie on the team, we strengthen the professional part of the Seafood Companies within the aquaculture area, and can put even more pressure on our work to improve the terms and conditions for Norway’s largest food producing industry, Eriksson added.
