Måsøval appoints new CFO

Norwegian salmon producer Måsøval has announced the appointment of the highly experienced Anders Hagestande as its new Chief Financial Officer.

Previously he held similar positions with the salmon companies Blue Resource Group (formerly Villa Seafood) which has operations in Norway, Scotland and the US and with Bjørøya AS of Norway.

Holding a degree in economics, Hagestande (pictured) has served as Financial Controller in Nova Sea AS and as a business developer in AquaGen AS.

Måsøval. CEO Helge Kvalvik said: “I am very pleased that Anders Hagestande has accepted the role.

“His background and experience in the seafood industry will be valuable for the further development of the company.”

Hagestande commented: “Salmon farming is a team sport. Getting a key role in such a strong organization is a great vote of confidence and means a lot to me.

“Måsøval has long traditions and is one of the pioneers in the development of Norwegian farming. Måsøval is one of the best-run farming companies in today, and there is a great responsibility in managing and developing the company further.

“I believe my experience from the entire value chain and strategic understanding can be valuable in helping to develop the company further.”

Anders Hagestande replaces Gunnar Aftret, who resigned his position in May this year. Gunnar Aftret will remain available to the company in the role of financial advisor until 30 November 2023 at the latest, to support the transition.

Last week Måsøval, which also has farming interests in Iceland, announced it was cancelling its semi-submersible salmon farm project, known as Semi Aqua, because it was no longer economically viable due to the salmon ground rent tax.
