AN award winning UK fish and chip shop has featured before more than a million viewers on US television.
Craig Maw  and  Nikki Mutton, owners of the  Kingfisher Fish & Chips in Plympton, Devon,  who won the takeaway sector at the  2017 National Fish and Chip Contest, made their debut as the stars of a top celebrity cookery show.
The  duo was invited by American celebrity chef Ming Tsai to appear on his hugely popular show, Simply Ming. The episode was one of three specials sponsored by the Norwegian Seafood Council, each featuring a chef demonstrating their use of seafood from Norway.
UK viewers can catch the episode on Chef Ming’s site https://www.ming.com/craig-maw-nikki-mutton and download the recipes cooked on the show.
Viewers can also  follow Craig & Nikki showing Chef Ming the local area including a trip to the Brixham Fish Market where he chooses from a huge array of fresh fish. They then head back to Kingfisher for a behind the scenes look at the  shop. The chefs then cook together, Ming creating a hake and monkfish cheek dish and Craig doing what he does best, serving up a plate of cod and haddock and chips.
Craig Maw  said: \”We’ve had so many amazing experiences in our quest to promote fish and chips but this has got to be up there with the best! Filming with Chef Ming was a blast! We had a great time chatting about our shared love of fish and showing him the local sights.
He added: “It’s bizarre to think of us, a small chippy in Devon, beaming into the living rooms of so many homes in the US. But we hope our passion for top quality ingredients comes across and that we can encourage viewers to choose MSC certified sustainable Norwegian seafood because it really is some of the best there is.
Chef Ming added,\”I had so much fun cooking up fish and chips with Craig and Nikki. Touring the Brixham Fish Market in action was incredible. Craig and Nikki truly understand the necessity to use quality ingredients for a great product. Their fish and chips are spot on and their tartar sauce is so tasty!”
