WiSA launches 2023 mentoring programme

The 2023 mentoring scheme from Women in Scottish Aquaculture (WiSA) starts on 8 March. The scheme offers women working in aquaculture the chance to learn and build their skills in partnership with senior professionals in the sector.

The nine-month scheme, delivered by Skillfluence, will match some of the most established industry leaders (both female and male) with women in the sector keen to develop and grow their careers.

Through one-to-one sessions, the mentoring programme will provide training and support for both mentees and mentors. Participants in the programme will meet over several months to build up skills such as creating a network, making career decisions, cultivating leadership styles, and building confidence.

WiSA is inviting applications from both mentors and mentees to take part in the programme. The deadline for applying is 17 February 2023 and details can be found online at wisa.sustainableaquaculture.com/mentoring/.

The programme is fully funded by SAIC, the Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Centre, but requires a commitment from participants to actively engage with the programme.

Donald Waring, Learning and Development Manager, MOWI, commented: “Being a mentor is so rewarding, it creates opportunities to pass on experience and guidance as well as making new connections and friendships.”
