Tonje to head wellboat supplier Frøy

TONJE Foss (pictured) , strategy director of the climate reduction organisation Enova, is to head up Frøy ASA, Norway’s largest provider of wellboats and other aquaculture services.

She takes up her position as CEO early next year, succeeding founder Helge Gåsø who also sits on the board of Frøy’s parent company, NTS ASA,

Enova SF is run by the Ministry of Climate and Environment. It contributes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, development of energy and climate technology and a strengthened security of supply.

Tonje (48) has more than 19 years experience in the oil and aquaculture industries with companies such as Kvaerner and , Aker BP .

She also sat on the board of SalMar, a position from which she has now resigned. SalMar said a new director will be elected before next summer.

Frøy said Gåsø will continue as an active co-owner of the company, and will eventually take a position on the board of Frøy. He said: “As a long term shareholder and founder of Frøy I believe it is time to hand over the helm to a new captain.”

Tonje Foss brings significant experience from various leadership roles in the companies she has been involved with.

She has a degree in civil engineering from Sør-Trøndelag University College and a master’s degree in petroleum economics from UiS.

She said: “ I am very excited to be entrusted with the opportunity to lead Frøy into the next stage of development.
