WHEN Skipper Expo Int Bournemouth 2015 gets underway later this month there will be a host of attractions for visitors, including a record number of boat displays.
Seven boats will be housed in the exhibition hall that will prove a real draw for inshore fishermen.
Another major attraction at the event, from October 30-31, will be a conference session focusing on issues facing the crab, lobster and whelk sectors.
Hosted by the Shellfish Association of Great Britain (SAGB), this specially convened meeting will discuss a wide range of issues, including crab exports to the Far East, stock assessments and management.
The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in shellfish and is part of SAGB’s ‘widening the net’ strategy to engage with non-members around the coast.
The session will be held on Friday, October 30, from 3pm to 6pm, at the Bournemouth International Centre where the Skipper Expo Int Bournemouth is being staged.
The show is sponsored by the National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations (NFFO), which will be highlighting latest updates on the landings obligation, drift net ban, bass, and the forthcoming December Council.
Paul Trebilcock, president of the NFFO, said: ‘As the show’s official sponsor we feel strongly that this show perfectly reflects the fisheries in this part of the world and are proud to support it.
‘This year is a landmark: the scientists have confirmed in unambiguous language that most of our stocks are fished not just sustainably but are on track to deliver high long term yields.
‘This is excellent news as the foundation of our prosperity is inevitably based on a healthy resource, within a healthy ecosystem.
‘That diversity is reflected in the range of exhibitors at the show and I certainly hope that the positive outlook on the stocks is reflected in the business done at the expo.’
Exhibitors at the show will cover all areas of the fishing sector, including marine electronics, engine suppliers, fishing gear, safety equipment, creels, chandlery and deck machinery.
Sharon Boyle of show organiser Mara Media said: ‘Skipper Expo Int Bournemouth 2015 is shaping up to be a fantastic show and there will be something to interest everyone.’
