Public welcome at first food standards meeting

SCOTLAND’S food standards board is to hold its first meeting in Aberdeen on April 22 and the public is invited to attend.
Set up by the Food (Scotland) Act 2015 as a non-ministerial part of the Scottish government, the Food Standards Scotland Board (FSS) exists to make sure food is safe to eat, ensure that consumes know what they are eating and improving nutrition.
Among items on next week’s agenda are proposals to look at social attitudes research in the diet and nutrition field; the most appropriate approach to developing the Food Hygiene Information Scheme; and the approval of a Code of Governance.
The board members are: George Brechin, Marieke Dwarshuis, Heather Kelman, Carrie Ruxton, Susan Walker, Anne Maree Wallace, and Louise Welsh.
The meeting will start at 9am at Food Standards Scotland, Pilgrim House, Old Ford Road, Aberdeen, AB11 5RL.
