Proximar chairman to step down
Land-based salmon farmer Proximar said this week that its chairman Kjell‑Erik Ostdahl will step down from the company’s board as of January 1, 2026.
Ostdahl, an investor, has served as the chairman of the board since 2024.
Following his departure, Viggo Halseth will assume the position of chairman until the next General Meeting. Halseth has served as a member of the board since 2022 and brings nearly four decades of expertise in the aquaculture feed industry.
His career includes senior leadership roles at Nutreco and Skretting, where he held positions such as Chief Innovation Officer at Nutreco and CEO of both Skretting Norway and the Skretting Group.
Proximar Seafood operates a land‑based salmon facility at the foot of Japan’s Mount Fuji.
It began production in 2022 and has had regular sales since September 2024, having so far sold more than 1,000 metric tons of salmon to customers in Japan, as well as Taiwan.
The company says its facility has an annual production capacity of 5,300 tonnes of head-on-gutted Atlantic Salmon and is optimized for continuous harvest.
