THE Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification re-assessment of the Mackerel Industry Northern Sustainability Alliance (MINSA) North East Atlantic Mackerel Fishery (Mid-water Single and Pair pelagic trawl, pelagic trawl, purse seine and hand-line Mackerel (Scomber scombrus) fishery) is entering the ‘information gathering’ stage of the re-assessment against the MSC Principles and Criteria for Sustainable Fishing.
A key purpose of this stage is to collect information on the fishery and in particular to speak to representatives of the fishery, fishery management and environmental management bodies.
Should any interested party have any information on this fishery that they feel should be considered in the re-assessment, please advise the independent certifier involved, Food Certification International Ltd (FCI).
The fishery assessment team will be making visits to Amsterdam and Norway during week commencing 10 November 2014.
The re-assessment will be carried out by independent certifier Food Certification International Ltd. Anyone with a stake in the fishery can be involved.
