Mowi appoints Villaroel as COO, Americas

Mowi has appointed Fernando Villarroel as chief operating officer, farming Americas and also announced an organisational shake-up for its Faroese operation. Mowi Faroes will now come under the group’s COO farming, Scotland and Ireland, Ben Hadfield.
Fernando Villarroel was previously managing director of Mowi Chile and has held a variety of executive positions in the farming industry. Between 2007 and 2017 he was chief operating officer, then managing director with Cermaq Canada.
He holds a degree in Auditing and Management from the Universidad Austral of Chile.
Ivan Vindheim, CEO of Mowi said: “I am very pleased that Fernando has accepted this challenge. He is a very experienced farmer with 20 years’ experience from various key positions in the salmon industry. Fernando and his team have delivered stellar biological figures in Mowi Chile after he took the reins in 2017.”
The Mowi Group Management Team now consists of: Ivan Vindheim, CEO; Kristian Ellingsen, CFO; Øyvind Oaland, COO farming Norway; Ben Hadfield, COO farming Scotland, Ireland and the Faroes: Fernando Villarroel, COO farming Americas: Ola Brattvoll, COO sales & marketing; Atle Kvist, COO feed; Catarina Martins, chief technology officer and chief sustainability officer; and Anne Lorgen Riise, chief HR officer.
