Landeldi picks Kristófersson as CEO

Land-based salmon farmer Landeldi has appointed Eggert Þór Kristófersson as the company’s Chief Executive Officer.

The Iceland-based business operates a farm and hatchery in the country’s Ölfus region, with the main farm in Þorlákshöfn.

Biomass production is estimated reach around 500 tons at the end of 2022. The Deep Atlantic growout station currently houses 450 thousand individual salmon in the growout tanks and raises approximately 1.6 million smolts in the hatchery at Öxnalækur.

Kristófersson has a background in finance, having worked from 1995 to 2008 at Íslandsbanki and Glitnir Bank. He served as the managing director of Glitnir Bank’s asset management in Iceland and Finland.

He was a finance manager with N1 (now the listed retail company, Festi hf.) in 2011 and later CEO in February 2015. He held the chairman position with N1, Krónan, ELKO, Festi Real Estate, Bakkinn Supply Hotel, Malik Supply A/S and Nordic Marine Oil in Denmark.

Kristófersson has a Cand. Oecon. degree in business administration and auditing from the University of Iceland and is a licensed stockbroker.

He has assumed the CEO position as of 17 August, replacing Halldór Ólafur Halldórsson, who is chairman of Landeldi’s board.

Landeldi aims to grow salmon production steadily to 33,500 tonnes annually by 2028. Stoðir hf, Framherji ehf. and Fylla ehf. are the largest shareholders of Landeldi hf. along with its founders.

He has had a successful career as a manager of a listed growth company for the last decade, his appointment underlines that Landeldi has ambitions growth plans ahead. Now Landeldi has secured all the fundamentals for building a large-scale salmon farm.”
