THE Board of the Cowal Gathering has today revealed that the Scottish Salmon Company (SSC) is the brand new title sponsor for this year’s event.
Taking place on the last weekend in August, 23,000 people are expected to attend the annual event in Dunoon, Scotland, widely recognised as the world’s most spectacular highland games.
Steeped in tradition, the annual Cowal Gathering has taken place for over 100 years against the stunning backdrop of Dunoon and promises world class pipe bands, heavy athletics, traditional wrestling and an atmosphere that is second to none.

It is an active member of the communities in which it operates and recognises the importance of the Cowal Gathering, not only as a key date in the local calendar, but also as an international spectacle attracting thousands of people to the three-day event in Dunoon.
Commenting on the new title sponsors, Ronnie Cairns, chair of the Cowal Gathering said: ‘We believe there is a strong synergy with The Scottish Salmon Company and our joint aim is to recognise and celebrate local talent and passion.
‘Although this is the first year the company will be involved in the event, I hope we can use it to build the foundations for a longer term partnership.’
Leading local producers of quality salmon, The Scottish Salmon Company is proud to support an event that is firmly rooted in the hearts and minds of the local community.
‘The scale at which the Cowal Gathering has grown over the years is extremely impressive’, said Craig Anderson, MD of the SSC, ‘and the commitment and drive behind the organisers to ensure it continues to be a success across the communities, as well as on an international stage, is nothing but admirable.
‘As a business we are proud and passionate about our first-class salmon produce and recognise the important role our employees play in delivering this, we therefore see our involvement in the Gathering as an opportunity to celebrate with our staff and the wider community this fantastic showcase of Scottish culture and traditions.’
