Environmental reward for Scottish haulier

FERGUSON Transport & Shipping, one of the largest independent transport and distribution companies in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, received a top industry reward on Friday 7 November for ‘Scotland’s Environmental Haulier of the Year’.
The prestigious rewards are run by Scottish Transport News, and the Ceremony was held at Glasgow’s Crown Plaza Hotel.
Based in the west Highlands of Scotland, Ferguson Transport & Shipping has a more challenging task than most in reducing its carbon footprint.
The roads in the Highlands are very demanding, and in comparison to motorways do not always lead to the best fuel efficiency, no matter how skilled the driver is.
To tackle its carbon footprint, Ferguson had to come up with other ideas and solutions, and introducing logistics over road, rail and sea has worked well.
Managing Director of Ferguson Transport & Shipping, Alasdair Ferguson, said: ‘We are delighted to be recognised in this way and receive this very prestigious transport industry reward.
‘This reward is a great credit to our directors and employees in appreciation of their forward thinking, planning and for current and future investments that we are making within the industry.’
