Scottish Sea Farms are an internationally recognised farmer of superior quality Scottish salmon. As part of our continued growth and investment in our business we are now recruiting a deputy Operations Manager for our new Freshwater Hatchery. The first of its kind in the UK, this state-of-the-art facility produces the best quality smolts before transferring to sea water at the optimum time.
You will be an integral part of the team at Barcaldine undertaking the day-to-day operations whilst working closely with and assisting the current Operations Manager. In their absence, you will be solely responsible for managing the running of the site and leading the rest of the team. Practicing strict biosecurity and hygiene protocols is of the upmost importance and you should act as a role model in demonstrating this throughout the hatchery.
The ideal candidate
You will ideally have experience, at Senior level or equivalent, in both fish husbandry and RAS systems and understand the complex relationships between water quality and fish health and welfare. We are looking for someone who is a natural problem solver, with a can-do attitude whilst working in a pressured and demanding environment. The applicant should be someone who is hard-working and takes pride and passion in what they do.
