NAFC shortlisted in Scottish Marine Aquaculture Awards 201308 May, 2013 –
The Marine Science and Technology Department of the NAFC Marine Centre has been shortlisted in two categories in the Crown Estates Scottish Marine Aquaculture Awards 2013.
The centre is in the running for both the Aquaculture Supplier of the Year and the Business Development Award which will be announced in Edinburgh on Thursday 13 June.
The NAFCs senior development manager, Alan Bourhill, said: We are very pleased that the effort the NAFCs aquaculture development team has put into developing a comprehensive portfolio of sector-specific training courses has been recognised in this way.
As a team, we have worked hard to position ourselves as a reactive, outward facing and customer service orientated organisation. Over the last two years we have provided training, consultancy and research services to over 30 different production and support companies, including all of the top five aquaculture producers (Marine Harvert, The Scottish Salmon Company, Scottish Sea Farms, Meridian Salmon and Grieg Seafood Hjaltland).
The Aquaculture Supplier of the Year award was nomination-based and will be awarded to the supplier who has shown a commitment to further the economic performance and sustainability of the aquaculture industry, through products and services. Our nomination recognises our continued commitment to support the aquaculture industry.
The Business Development Award was entry based and will be awarded to the organisation that has made a significant and positive contribution to the economic sustainability of the business in existing or new markets, through the development of an aquaculture, farming or business practice.
These awards recognise the best of the best in the aquaculture industry so we would have been thrilled to be shortlisted for just one, never mind two awards. The calibre of entries in both categories is always high, so we feel it is a great achievement to get this far in the process.
