A MULL company has placed an order for another workboat and created another 13 jobs for the island when it is delivered.
Inverlussa Marine Services will bring its tally of vessels to five when the new boat arrives in January 2015. The firm has a big presence in the fish farming sector.
The new 27.5-metre general-purpose workboat, which is being built by Macduff Shipyards Ltd, will be capable of operating coastal cargo, civil engineering and renewable energy support, fish farm service work.
A 146-tonne/metre combined knuckle telescopic deck crane will enhance the vessels varied capabilities, which include the capacity to carry 120 tonnes of deck cargo, a dry hold and facilities for cargo fuel and water transfer.
Depending on what contract it is used for, said Ben Wilson, operations director at Inverlussa, there could be 12 crew and another shore manager.
