Detailed proposals sought11 June, 2010 –
THE Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is seeking detailed proposals from qualified consultants to review MSC Scheme Documents.
The MSC has a range of requirements and guidance that control and guide the operation of certifiers who assess fisheries and their supply chains against the MSC sustainability and Chain of Custody standards. These requirements and guidance are contained in some 50 MSC scheme documents.
The MSCs Technical Advisory Board has recommended the MSC executive initiate a project to revise all of the scheme documents (excluding the standard for sustainable fishing, and the Chain of Custody standard) into a new streamlined, simpler-to-read and amended set of consolidated documents the Scheme Document Review Project.
The MSC works with partners to transform the worlds seafood markets and promote sustainable fishing practices. The MSC certification programme gives fisheries a way to independently confirm sustainability, a competitive edge in the marketplace and an assurance to buyers that the fish comes from a well-managed and sustainable source.
