Tuna industry to converge on Bangkok Published: 12 October, 2007
THE tenth Infofish World Tuna Trade Conference, Tuna 2008, will be held in Bangkok next year, from May 28-30.
Due to a substantial increase in the number of delegates, Tuna has had to move from its traditional location at the Shangri-La Hotel, exhibition organiser Simon Griffiths said.
Therefore, for 2008, we are moving to the brand new and much larger venue of the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre.
Located centrally on the prestigious Siam Square, Centara Grand is part of a large new hotel, convention centre, retail and office development. It is easily accessible by expressway, skytrain and underground train.
The new facility also offers a considerable expanded space for the Tuna 2008 exhibition, which suffered badly from space constraints in the past, Mr Griffiths said.
Traditionally, the Tuna shows have attracted the cream of the global tuna industry. The delegates represent every aspect of the industry from catching and growing through processing, packaging, transport and marketing. Government fisheries managers and scientists also play a vital role in the conference.
