MAJOR processor Shetland Catch, has won the Seafood Exporter of the Year title at the Food from Britain and HSBC Export Awards 2002.
The company was honoured with the accolade at the annual export awards lunch in London.
The Food from Britain and HSBC Export Awards 2002 is the premier event for British food and drink exporters and aims to recognise their achievements across a variety of categories.
The Seafood Exporter of the Year award acknowledges Shetland Catchs outstanding overseas performance.
Managing director Derek Leask commented:This award demonstrates our commitment to our export customers. Export is an integral part of our business, accounting for around 96 per cent of sales.
It is our dedicated approach and our ability to exploit different export markets that has led to significant increases in sales.
Our export strategy focuses on building firm relationships with customers, establishing their needs and exceeding expectations and this is the key to our success.
Shetland Catch was established in 1989 and has recently completed a £10 million expansion to its processing facilities. The company recorded pre-tax profits of £3.6 million from a turnover of £43.1 million for the last financial year.
