Shetland Isles salmon services company goes into receivership Published: 05 January, 2004
Shetland-based(SSG) Seafoods Limited has called in the receivers.
Accountants Ernst & Young are now working with the company to assess its future.
The decision was taken before the festive period but has only just emerged.
Set up in 2000, the company, which has four staff, had contracts with many of the islands’ independent fish farms.
The move is being seen by some observers as a harbinger of more bad news as the 20 year old salmon farming industry undergoes financial pressure caused by low wholesale prices.
