Chief executive of SFPA Ruth Henderson said: We welcome this new initiative and look forward to the many opportunities that we can exploit together. We are already working hard to raise the profile of Shetland seafood in the market place and I am confident that the inclusion of SSGA members will give added strength to our promotional activities.
Bobby McLeod, newly appointed chairman of SSGA added: SSGA currently represents 95 per cent of Shetlands shellfish farmers. We see this development as a very positive one and are optimistic about the future.
Shetland Seafood will represent the interests of forty two companies involved in all aspects of fish processing and shellfish growing.
