Search for new chief executive for UK skippers’ body takes off in earnest Published:  08 March, 2005

THERE has been a “reasonable” level of interest from candidates interested in the job of chief executive of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, according to a federation spokesperson.

The process of filling the vacancy, caused by the recent retirement of Hamish Morrison, is now well under way following last Friday’s closing date for applications for the job.

The federation is giving no details of who is in the running, but understands there have been around 15 applications which are being reviewed to create an interview list.

Interviews are due to begin on Monday, March 14,

and the expectation is that the new chief executive will be named by the end of this month.

The background of those who have applied is believed to be wide-ranging and it is also understood that two candidates who have former or existing links with the federation are among those who have thrown their hats into the ring.

The new chief executive will come into the job under a different federation structure, notably the creation of a new committee framework designed to meet what is seen as a need for wider scrutiny, progression and monitoring of federation affairs both in a national and international context. is published by Special Publications.
