Record number reported for illegal fishing Published: 03 January, 2007
THE Norwegian Coast Guard has never reported as many Norwegain and foreign vessels for illegal fishing as it did in 2006.
According to the Norway Post, a total of 70 cases were reported last year, against 61 in 2005.
Commander of Coast Guard squadron North, Steve Olsen, says the reason for the higher number of arrests is a change of routines.
Olsen also says that the crime at sea is now more serious and better organised than before.
