New Success For Top Processor European Fish Trader Published: 05 June, 2003
EUROPE’S largest pelagic fish processor, Lerwick-based Shetland Catch, has returned from exhibiting at the leading Eastern European trade show, Pol-fish, in Gdansk, Poland for the first time. And the show, held from 27 to 29 May, proved a big success for the company, with around 100 serious contacts made, foundations laid for future business, an extensive interview with Polish state television, and recognition for having the most attractive stand at the event.
Leading the Shetland Catch team at the show, the company’s business development manager, Michael Pedersen, said: “Shetland Catch commanded a very high profile throughout the event for a number of reasons.
“First, our location in the centre of the main hall attracted significant interest from a wide variety of visitors. As well as Polish importers, we met new and existing contacts from Slovakia, Ukraine, Germany, Lithuania, and Russia, as well as from Korea and Japan.
“Secondly, we were selected by the organisers of the event as having the most attractive stand at this year’s exhibition. Following this accolade, Polish state television filmed the stand and conducted an extensive interview. The station now plans to produce a six-minute broadcast focusing on Shetland Catch’s background and processing facilities.
“Finally, Shetland Smokehouse whet visitors’ appetites with tastings of its recently launched pates and smoked seafood products .
