Derek Sharp

THE Scottish Shellfish Marketing Group (SSMG) has announced that it has appointed Derek Sharp in the senior role as Business Development Manager. Mr Sharp’s appointment follows on from a string of senior level promotions at SSMG, aimed at increasing the 20% boom the co-operative is currently enjoying.

Mr Sharp (41), who joins SSMG from Bell Bakers, will develop further opportunities for growth of the co-operative including developing new products and opening new markets to existing SSMG products.

Previously employed as the Senior National Account Manager for Bells Bakers, Sharp brings with him years of experience in sales developments, business growth and developing promotional strategies.

Ian Hird was recently promoted to SSMG’s first Facilities Manager to help steer the group’s increased production. Previously employed as the Production Manager, Mr Hird has been with SSMG for the past two years.

Laura Harley has been named as the new Production Manager. Previously employed as the co-operative’s Continuous Improvement Manager, she helped to reduce waste, improve efficiency, hygiene, record and analyse production. This new appointment sees Harley currently working on improving labour costs and product efficiency.
