Brendan May, chief executive of the MSC, commented: It is very encouraging that having been operating as an independent charity for just three years, we have made such an impact on the global community about the worldwide issue of overfishing. We are delighted that the charity awards panel has acknowledged our work with all the key players in this field. It is tremendously uplifting that our achievements to promote a solutions-based approach and improvement in the structure and transparency of our programme have been recognised.
