JOHN Browne, Minister of State at Ireland’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, has paid tribute to Frank Doyle, founder and general secretary of the Irish Fishermen’s Organisation, who passed away earlier today following a short illness.

“Frank had been involved in representing the Irish fishing sector for over 30 years, both at a national and European level. He was passionate about preserving Ireland’s fishing traditions and always sought to attain the best possible deal for those he represented in negotiations,” said Minister Browne.

“His untimely passing will be felt throughout the fishing communities of Ireland and especially by all of those who knew Frank personally.”

Minister Browne extended his sympathies to Frank’s wife, Simone, his four children and his family. is published by Special Publications.
