MCA advises pre-summer inspection for small commercial vessel operators Published:  27 May, 2005

THE Maritime and Coastguard Agency are encouraging small commercial vessel operators to arrange a pre-summer inspection in preparation for forthcoming events during the summer.

Vessels which have not received a pre-summer 2005 inspection may be boarded during one of the summer events in the Solent to ensure compliance with the Small Commercial Vessel Code and offered safety advice; if they are not compliant they may face prosecution. The MCA understands that operators would prefer not to be boarded during the International Festival of the Sea, Fleet Review, Global Challenge Return or Cowes Week. They are therefore encouraging operators to make an appointment now.

An appointment for an inspection can be made through Southampton Marine Office on 023 8032 9329.
