A LIGHTHOUSE that was sold for just £900 in 2001 is now on the market for £850,000.

The 173-year-old Belle Tout beacon was sold off cheap six years by councillors even though it was worth £250,000, reports the Mirror.

Estate Agent Tim Page-Ratcliff said the lighthouse on top of notorious suicide spot Beachy Head, near Eastbourne, in East Sussex is “breathtaking”, according to Ananova.

He added: “It has spectacular views over the Channel and the South Downs.”

The lighthouse featured in the 1986 BBC drama series The Life and Loves of a She Devil.
