Irish sea fish egg surveys: Cefas invitation to tender Published:  07 August, 2007

TENDERS are invited for a research vessel to conduct two 12-day ichthyoplankton surveys in the Irish Sea between roughly 53oN and 55oN, during the periods March 7-18 and March 24 – April 4, 2008 (with up to two days flexibility in starting dates and no less than five days between surveys). This project is funded by Defra.

The vessel must be in excess of 30 metres in length, have living/working space for a minimum of eight scientific staff, and have a slip-ring winch capable of deploying a towed plankton sampler and mounted electronic equipment down to 180m at towing speeds of 3-5 knots in sea states up to force 7.
