Ireland: Minister Browne meets with commercial salmon fishing representatives Published: 23 March, 2006
MINISTER John Browne T.D., described as productive yesterdays meeting with several key representatives of the commercial salmon fishery industry in Dublin. The meeting was convened at the request of the representatives, following the recent recommendation made to the Minister by the National Salmon Commission. The representatives presented Minister Browne with a submission outlining their concerns with the recommendations made by the National Salmon Commission. They also presented Minister Browne with a report, compiled on their behalf, on the view of the commercial fishermen on the salmon fishery. Minister Browne accepted the submission and report and added that he welcomed input from any of the stakeholders involved in the sector: “Over the past weeks I have been consulting widely with those involved both directly and indirectly in the sector and I intend to consider all their views carefully before reaching any decision in this matter.”
