FISHING 2007 is to introduce an inshore seminar programme presented by key organisations that set the standards and regulate fishing across the UK.

The move will bring a new area of interest for inshore skippers and organisations operating in the inshore industry to the event. Visitors can attend the seminars for free during Fishing 2007, which takes place May 24-26 2007 at the SECC Glasgow.

The programme includes seminars by the Scottish Executive on ‘Inshore fisheries groups’, the Sea Fish Technical Department who will lead a Trawl gear workshop and Static netting seminar, and Jane Sandell of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation (SFF) will talk about the inshore market.

Adding to the speaker line up is Phil Lockely, Heighway’s in-shore reporter, who will introduce the seminar with an overview of the last 20 years of inshore fishing. In addition to this, The Scallop Association will lead a seminar on environmental issues and processing.
