Industry to meet officials on fuel crisis Published: 25 July, 2005
FISHERMEN’S leaders will meet Scottish and UK Government officials in London tomorrow in a bid to win answers on the fuel crisis facing fishermen.
Bertie Armstrong, the chief executive of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, said today that both he and Barrie Deas, the chief executive of the Grimsby-based National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations, plus other industry representatives, would be meeting officials specifically on the fuel issue.
Mr Armstrong added: “What we are looking for is short term aid but equally importantly anything for the future which might help us become more fuel efficient.”
But Mr Armstrong underlined it was a difficult area, given that high fuel costs were a global problem affecting several industries.
