PETERHEAD looks to be continuing its growth with an overall rise in fish values for last month compared with January 2006.

According to figures issued by Peterhead Port Authority, the overall gross value for January 2006 was £24,784,949 compared with £25,901,564 for this year.

Within the statistics, white fish tonnage has fallen from 3445 tonnes to 2637 tonnes but gross value has gone from £4,041,399 to £4,638,653.

Meanwhile mackerel tonnage is up from 25,236 tonnes to 31,623 tonnes with value going from £20,485,611 to £20,820,545.

Shellfish tonnage has gone from 154 tonnes to 196 with the gross value rising from £257,939 to £441,626.
